Replacements execs get leadership award
Two executives from Replacements Ltd. were given the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute's second annual Lewis-Underwood Award on Thursday. Company chairman and CEO Bob Page and senior vice president for product services Dale Frederiksen were honored for their work supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organizations and causes.
The award comes with a $10,000 check for the winners to designate for a nonprofit group of their choice. Page and Frederiksen selected Equality NC, a Raleigh-based organization that works to educate the public about the effect of discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
Greensboro-based Replacements was founded in 1981 and boasts the world's largest selection of china, crystal, silver and collectibles.
Awards, recognitions, certifications
Hunton & Williams awarded four lawyers from the Raleigh office the E. Randolph Williams Award for their commitment to pro bono work. Jason S. Thomas had the highest number of pro bono and community service hours: more than 143 hours. Also honored were Angela L. Cottrell, Craig A. Bromby and William H. McBride.
Shirley Chamberlain, a Hurricane Katrina case manager with Capital Area Workforce Development, received the 2007 Making a Difference Award from the Capital Area Workforce Development Board.
Anne M. Pearlstein of Clark Nexsen passed the certification exam to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Wilson and Henderson glass-container manufacturing facilities of Saint-Gobain Containers won recognition in the Clear Choice Awards, a national packaging design competition. Hank's Gourmet Beverages, manufactured at the Wilson plant, won in the carbonated beverage category. La Famiglia DelGrosso pasta sauce, manufactured in the Henderson plant, won in the food category.
RPath of Raleigh won the award for most innovative software idea at The Computing Technology Industry Association's SoftwareCEO/CompTIA Software Innovation Awards.
Steve Clarke of Prudential Resort Realty in Duck received the Certified Residential Specialist designation from the Council of Residential Specialists.
M. Glenn Newkirk, president of InfoSentry Services in Raleigh, earned the status of Certified Business Resilience Auditor for continuity and disaster recovery from Business Resilience Certification International.

Bobbie Barbrey, owner of Medicap Pharmacy on Falls of the Neuse Road in Raleigh, was named to the 2006 Capsule Club for excellent sales performance by Medicap Pharmacies.
