Here's the ideal gift for Dilbert

Cubicle culture requires certain rules of etiquette -- as well as hygiene -- that every Dilbert knows.

But there remains one burning question: How to announce yourself at a cube-mate's door.

Some people knock on the desk. Others clear their throats. The worst? Those who come up behind you and wait.

Finally, we have found a product that addresses those embarrassing moments: the Cubicaller.

The brainchild of Mike Mussoline, a software engineer in California, the cubicaller is a doorbell for your cubicle. It comes with 12 sounds. The device attaches to any cubicle surface with double-sided self-adhesive velcro. It costs $11.99 at www.cubicaller.com.

If you were wondering whether your co-workers will think the device cool or nerdy, Mussoline's Web site says yes -- on both counts.

Now put out the welcome mat.
