Julia Lynn Edwards of Washington, District of Columbia and Newman Carraway Ainsley of Washington, District of Columbia were married October 29, 2016 at five o’clock in the evening at Christ Church Georgetown. The Reverend Kristen L. Hawley officiated and The Reverend Timothy A.R. Cole gave the homily. A reception was held at The Decatur House after the ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George Sadler Edwards, Jr. of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Dewey Gilbert Harwood , Jr. of Raleigh and the late Mrs. Ruth Jenkins Harwood, and Dr. and Mrs. George Sadler Edwards, Sr. of Raleigh. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Newman Ainsley of Warrenton, Virginia. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. John Sheridan Ashworth of Richmond, Virginia and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Stanley Ainsley, Jr. Susan Edwards Lewis of Statesboro, Georgia, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Lauren Ashworth Ainsley of Richmond, Virginia, sister of the groom; Rebecca Bruton Edwards of Raleigh; Caroline Hampton Williams Hofer of Raleigh; Katherine Fitzgerald Kenney of Charlotte, North Carolina; Chloe Suzanne King of New York, New York; and Anne Rogers Smyth of New York, New York. Howard Newman Ainsley served as his son’s best man. The groomsmen were Dylan Hale Colligan of Alexandria, Virginia; James Willis Davis of New York, New York; George Sadler Edwards III of Raleigh, brother of the bride; Daniel Francis Lewis, of Statesboro, Georgia; Jonathan Walter Morgan of Washington, District of Columbia; and Gordon Waller Neal of Richmond, Virginia. The flower girl was Elizabeth Susan Lewis. The ring bearers were George Ryland Edwards and Jeffrey Edwards Lewis.Readers were Mary Clare Freeman of Raleigh and Daniel Francis Lewis of Statesboro, Georgia. Greeters were Catherine Eatherly Cochran of Washington, District of Columbia and Elizabeth Cannon West of New York, New York. Thomas P. Smith, organist, and Sarah d’Angelo, violinist, provided the music. The bride is a graduate of Davidson College and Northwestern University and is currently employed by Reuters.The groom is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and George Washington University. He is currently employed by George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates.After a honeymoon trip to The Greenbrier, the couple will reside in Washington, District of Columbia.
