Anne Marie Stephano and John Borden Ward were united in marriage at half past five o’clock on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh. The Reverend James Adams officiated. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at the Contemporary Art Museum. On Friday evening, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bridge Club.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Louis Stephano of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Chemerys of Philadelphia, PA, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Louis Stephano of Newtown Square, PA.The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Dockery Ward of Raleigh. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Turner Bynum of Goldsboro and Dr. and Mrs. Doctor Ernest Ward, Jr. of Lumberton.The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Sara Catherine Stephano, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Geer Hadley; Amy Plyler Clarke; Bailey Scott Anthony; Sarah Hahn Archer; Ann McCollum Steele; Jessica Spears Margetson; Anna Mackie Dineen; and Emily Adelman Ward. The groom’s nieces, Elizabeth Paige Ward and Anna Bynum Ward, were flower girls. Caroline Prince Calder served as greeter. Ellen Elizabeth Ward, cousin of the groom, and Jessica Hale Tesh were scripture readers.The groom’s father served as the best man. Groomsmen included the groom’s brother, David Dockery Ward, Jr.; the groom’s cousin, David Henry Ward; the bride’s brother, Stephen Louis Stephano, Jr.; Allen McCubbins Wood; Dixon McCommon McKay; Andrew Joseph Darcy; David Rufus Boaz; and William Ascher Michalove. John Boyd Davis IV served as Crucifer. The bride attended Ravenscroft School in Raleigh and earned a BS in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also received a MS in Physician Assistant Studies at East Carolina University. She is employed as a Physician Assistant at Coastal Surgery Specialists in Wilmington.The groom graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh. He attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem where he received a BA in Spanish. He received his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. He is an attorney with Yates, McLamb & Weyher, LLP, in Raleigh.Following a honeymoon to the Provence region of France, the couple now resides in Raleigh.
