Claire Alise Hunter and William Powell Duff IV were united in marriage at six o'clock on Saturday, August 15, 2015, in the All Saints' Chapel of St. David's School in Raleigh. The Reverend John Sanford Jordan officiated. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at Carolina Country Club. On Friday evening, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Carolina Country Club, and friends and family of the couple hosted a wedding eve celebration at the Club's pool house.
The bride is the daughter of Judge and Mrs. Robert Carl Hunter of Marion. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sims Hinson of Belmont and the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Penn Hunter of Marion.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Powell Duff III of Raleigh. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Powell Duff, junior, of Raleigh and the late Dr. and Mrs. David Thomas Tayloe of Washington.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attended by her sister, Megan Hunter Entriken, of Amelia Island, FL as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Claire Tayloe Duff and Erin Duff Koontz, sisters of the groom, Emma Whitaker Powell, the groom's cousin, and Kelley White Cash, all of Raleigh; Jena Michele Edelman of Greenville; Megan Patricia Harless of Greenville, SC and Emily Wilbourne Satzger of Chicago. The bride's nieces, Elle Alise Entriken and Lucy Jane Entriken, of Amelia Island were flower girls. Greeters were Katherine Carmichael Doherty of Charlotte and Jessica Grace Pierce of Raleigh. Laura Kline Tayloe, the groom's cousin-in-law, and Ryal Woodall Tayloe, senior, the groom's uncle, both of Wilmington, were scripture readers.
The groom's father served as the best man. Groomsmen included the groom's cousin, Ryal Woodall Tayloe, junior, of Wilmington; Robert Stark Adams III and Jeffrey Hamilton Cooke of Raleigh; Sean Whitley Lane Alford and George Van Fossen Schwab III of New York; Timothy Paul Bramley of Asheville and Andrew Yates Lutz of Charlotte. Ushers were Stuart Gordon Ferrell and David Joseph Kleisch of Raleigh. The groom's nephew, Henry Jackson Koontz, of Raleigh was the ring bearer.
The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her bachelor of arts and juris doctor and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is an assistant county attorney in the Wake County Attorney's Office.
The groom attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his bachelor of arts and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He is an assistant vice president with North State Bank Mortgage.
Following a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
