Mrs. Elizabeth Aaron Sermons and Dr. Aria Ghaffari were married September 12 2015, in the Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. The Reverend Kenneth Wayne Simpson officiated the double ring ceremony.The bride is the daughter of the Honorable and Mrs. Wayland James Sermons, Jr. of Washington, NC. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wayland J. Sermons of Washington, NC and the late Mr. and Mrs. Carroll H. Gillam of Windsor, NC.The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Hooshang Ghaffari of Pacific Palisades, Ca. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ghasem Ghaffari – Ilchikabir, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Abolghasem Ghanizadeh – Ghorbani.Bridesmaids were Mary Stokes of Greenville, NC, Etta Buckman Long of New York City, Carly Phillips Duguid of Santa Monica, Ca., Christina Anglin of Brooklyn, NY, Kate Sykes of Greensboro, NC, and Hannah Small of Raleigh, NC. Laila Ghaffari, niece of the groom, served as flower girl.Dr. Arash Ghaffari of Pacific Palisades, Ca. served as best man. Groomsmen were Dr. Arshia Ghaffari of Los Angeles, Ca., Jason Silver of San Francisco, Ca., Douglas Matsunaga of Malibu, Ca., Benjamin Treger of Los Angeles, Ca., Jeremiah Cohen of Los Angeles, Ca., and Wayland J. Sermons, III of Charlotte, NC.Mrs. Sermons received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Duke University. She is employed in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Shands Health System in Gainesville, Fl. Dr. Ghaffari received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his medical degree from Georgetown University. He is a resident physician in diagnostic radiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Fl. Following a honeymoon in Negril, Jamaica the couple will live in Gainesville, Florida.
