Miss Eleanor Bickford Perry Gilbert and Mr. Frank Arthur Daniels IV were united in marriage in a private ceremony on the afternoon of August 29, 2015 at half after five. The couple exchanged vows in the chapel of Saint Andrew’s By-the-Sea in Nags Head, North Carolina. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Phillip R. Glick. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at Pirate’s Cove, in Manteo. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s father hosted a rehearsal dinner at Pamlico Jack’s, in Nags Head.The bride is the daughter of Ms. Elizabeth Gail Perry and Mr. Jonathan Bickford Gilbert, of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Norman Freeman Perry and the late Mr. Perry, of Colerain, North Carolina and the late Colonel and Mrs. George Edel Gilbert, of Frederick, Maryland.The groom is the son of Ms. Teresa Davison Daniels, of Raleigh and Mr. Frank Arthur Daniels III, of Clarksville, Tennessee. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wade Davison, of Raleigh, formerly of Naples, Florida, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Arthur Daniels Jr., of Raleigh. The groom is descended from The Hon. Josephus Daniels, former U.S. Secretary of the Navy, US Ambassador to Mexico and founder of The News & Observer, Raleigh.The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. Marian Castellow Gilbert Rice, of Raleigh, as matron of honor. Maid of honor was Miss Kathryn Adele Craig, of Raleigh. Bridesmaids were Miss Janie Grace Gilbert, sister of the bride, of Raleigh; Mrs. Kimberly Daniels Taws, sister of the groom, of Pinehurst; Miss Sarah Day Hartzell of Somerville, Massachusetts; Miss Erica Morgan Long, of Wrightsville Beach; Mrs. Ryan Davis Solis of Marietta, Georgia; and Miss Kate Hampton Sykes, of Greensboro. The groom’s father served as best man. She is an assistant district attorney in the Wake County District Attorney’s office.The groom attended Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Virginia, and graduated from Salem College of New Jersey with a fine arts degree in glass art. He is an advertising representative for the Southern Pines Pilot in Southern Pines, North Carolina.A luncheon honoring the bride and her attendants was held on the porches of a historic Nags Head cottage the morning before the wedding. The hostesses were Mrs. Marian Castellow Perry, of Colerain, grandmother of the bride; Mrs. Jaquelin Jenkins Perry, of Colerain, and Mrs. Mary-Lynn Perry Moore, of High Point, aunts of the bride; along with Mrs. Tra Jennette Perry, of Colerain, and Mrs. Ann Harrell Perry, of Edenton. Upon their return from Nags Head, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
