Louisa “Elisabeth” Lee Lewis married Matthew Gillis Delafield in an intimate family ceremony at the UNC Newman Catholic Center Parish on Saturday, June 25th. The couple also exchanged traditional Scottish vows in the highlands on June 30th. Elisabeth is the daughter of Edwin Lewis of Charlotte, NC and Ann Hines Lewis of Chapel Hill. She is the granddaughter of Louise Hines Smith and the late Woodrow Smith of Wallace, NC; the late Edward Hines of Warsaw, NC; and the late Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt Grady Lewis Sr. of Easley, SC. Elisabeth received her BA in English Literature and Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned her MA in Archaeology from the University College of Dublin in Ireland. Matthew is the son of Mr. John and Mrs. Martha Delafield of Chapel Hill, NC. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gillis of Laguna Hills, California, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy Delafield of Greensboro, NC. Matthew earned his BS from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Men’s Tennis team. Matthew is the co-founder and COO of Renewable Energy Services, LLC, a utility-scale solar developer. Elisabeth works at Cape Fear Academy. The couple resides in Wilmington, NC with their two dogs.
