As part of UNC-Chapel Hill’s yearlong series examining World War I, the school’s music and theater departments are staging “Johnny Johnson,” the 1936 musical by Kurt Weill and N.C. playwright Paul Green. UNC alum Serena Ebhardt directs this searing indictment of war through the eyes of one soldier futilely trying to stop enemy and allies alike from continuing the carnage.
