The Cypress of Raleigh Book Club has 20 members and has been meeting since 2009, says club member Connie Grant.
Tell us about your club. Our club is open to all residents at The Cypress of Raleigh. We meet the second Tuesday for lunch and discussion. Members make recommendations about which book to read and then we vote. We do ask that the member has read the book they sponsor. We sit at a large square table where we all can see and hear each other. All are involved. One of our members leads the discussion on the chosen book. If we can we use the Wake County Library’s book bag for book clubs.
What are you reading now? “The Wright Brothers” by David McCullough
What is your club’s favorite book? “People of the Book” by Geraldine Brooks
Never miss a local story.
What’s unique about your club? Our members come from all over the USA. Their wealth of interesting life experiences, education and travel brings a fabulous base for wonderful and insightful discussions. We are looking forward to having author Kim Church join us in February to discuss her novel “Byrd.”
