Sunday evening, the Cinema Inc. series at the Rialto in Raleigh kicks off its 49th season with the 1931 Charlie Chaplin classic, “City Lights.” Billed as “A Comedy Romance in Pantomime,” Chaplin’s fifth feature-length film concerns his signature screen persona, the Tramp, falling in love with a blind flower girl (Virginia Cherrill). In addition to his writing, directing, editing and starring duties, Chaplin also composed the film’s wonderful musical score. Included on many lists of the greatest movies of all time, “City Lights” is an incredibly charming experience capped off by one of the most devastatingly sad endings ever – so be sure to bring your handkerchiefs. It starts at 7, and series tickets are $20. Details: 919-787-7611 or www.cinema-inc.org.
