Dasan Ahanu wears many hats. He is a public speaker, organizer, workshop facilitator, poet, spoken word performer, educator, songwriter, writer, emcee, and loyal hip-hop head born and raised in Raleigh. Ahanu is also a 2015-2016 Nasir Jones Fellow with the Hip Hop Archive at Harvard University’s Hutchins Center for African & African American Research. On Friday, he brings his performance skills to Durham’s Beyu Caffe stage for a night of spoken word set to live jazz music.
