Rick Springfield, Richard Marx, Common, Earth, Wind & Fire. The Durham Performing Arts Center will have them all next year.
Springfield and Marx will play DPAC on Jan. 27 – performing full solo acoustic sets. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Dec. 16.
DPAC and the 2017 Art of Cool Festival announced that Grammy-winning rapper Common would perform as part of the AOC Festival lineup April 28-30. Common, an actor, film producer, poet and music artist, will perform with unannounced special guests on April 29. Tickets go on sale at noon Dec. 16.
“Partnering with DPAC to add Common to an already exciting lineup for the fourth installment of AOCFEST is a true testament to the growth not only of Art of Cool, but also the audience for black American music in the area,” said Cicely Mitchell, president/co-founder of The Art of Cool Project.

America’s seventh top-selling musical group of all time – Earth, Wind & Fire – will perform at DPAC on April 1. This will be the group’s second DPAC appearance – its first was a sold-out show in 2011, according to a DPAC news release. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 17.
