You may not be familiar with Richard Leigh, but you probably know country chanteuse Crystal Gayle. Gayle topped the country chart in 1977 with Leigh’s Grammy-winning song, “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.” It became Gayle’s signature song and, along with “I’ll Get Over You,” one of her two Leigh-penned chart-topping hits. George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Alabama, Perry Como and Ray Charles are among the artists who have recorded Leigh’s songs. Friday night, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member will perform his songs at The Cary Theater. More info at thecarytheater.com.
