It’s a rare and welcomed occasion when two artists of the stature of Patty Griffin and Lee Ann Womack are brought together. A thoughtful and uniquely gifted songwriter and performer, Griffin won a Grammy Award for her 2011 CD, “Downtown Church.” She is among the most respected of Nashville’s newest wave, and often performs with the equally acclaimed Emmylou Harris. Womack has earned the CMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year, and topped the Billboard chart with her hit single, “I Hope You Dance.” Each artist brings energy and charm to her stage show, which will be on display Friday night at Durham’s Carolina Theatre.
