A dozen years have elapsed since Alison Krauss invited a young and gifted fiddler, Michael Cleveland, to perform with her on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Since that night, the International Bluegrass Music Association has honored Cleveland with nine Fiddler of the Year awards and his band, Flamekeeper, with four trophies as top instrumental group. Cleveland is renowned for high energy pyrotechnics propelling his fiddling to the edge, yet always within the bounds of good taste and tone. On Saturday, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper will be featured at Lil John’s Mountain Music Festival in Snow Camp. Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out, the Lonesome River Band and Band of Ruhks are among the performers at the festival, which runs through Saturday.
