Larry Campbell at Southland
Larry Campbell may not be a household name, someone whose work is is discussed over coffee and danish. But the many talents of the multi-instrumentalist New York native are discussed often by Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Little Feat, Mavis Staples, Emmylou Harris and other artists who have enlisted his musical gifts in the recording studio and on tour. Campbell, who served as music director for the Levon Helm Band at Helms’ Midnight Ramble concerts, is recipient of the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement award.
On Saturday, Campbell and his wife, Teresa Williams, will bring musical delights to the Southland Ballroom in Raleigh. Austin’s The Band of Heathens will share the bill. More info at southlandballroom.com.

- The Jeff Austin Band will grace the stage of American Tobacco Campus in Durham on Thursday, part of the Back Porch Music on the Lawn series. The evening will also feature local favorites, Hank Smith and Lindsey Tims.
