You’ve probably heard Jorma Kaukonen’s lyrical guitar riffs on such iconic ’60s counter-culture hits as “White Rabbit” and his instrumental tour de force “Embryonic Journey.” A finger-style guitar guru, the Jefferson Airplane guitarist has also carved out a memorable career in Hot Tuna with his Airplane co-conspirator, bassist Jack Casady. Occasionally, though, Kaukonen leaves Fur Peace Ranch, the musical Ohio retreat and teaching center he founded with his wife, Vanessa, and sets out on a solo tour of the sort that brings him to Raleigh’s Lincoln Theatre on Saturday.
It will be a rare opportunity to hear this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist perform songs from the Reverend Gary Davis and others with inimitable, creative brilliance. More info at lincolntheatre.com.
