From his native Fayetteville, N.C., to the U.S. Navy, Carrboro and beyond, Jonathan Byrd has rambled, sailed and observed the human condition with a poet’s pen and a songwriter’s art. His songs often expose hidden facets of characters and situations, earning him a legion of fans who appreciate the expository gifts of writers such as Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark.
On Saturday, Byrd brings his guitar and songs to Cat’s Cradle Back Room in Carrboro. More details on the 8 p.m. show at catscradle.com.
- Friday, local bluesmen John Dee Holeman and Harvey Dalton Arnold perform on the Carrboro Town Commons as part of the free Freight Train Blues Concert Series.
