If pure melancholia was turned into a sound, it would come out something like Ray LaMontagne’s anguished croon. Five albums in, LaMontagne is still plumbing the depths of blue moods and turning them into beguilingly pretty sounds. That goes for his latest album, “Supernova” (RCA Records), which actually perks up the tempo a bit from albums past but still comes out extravagantly emotional. LaMontagne will hold forth in person Saturday at downtown Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $34-$63.50. See redhatamphitheater.com for details.
