A decade ago, the Rosebuds got started as a scruffy synth-pop duo that was long on low-tech charm, but they’re all grown up now. Indeed, the Rosebuds have become one of the most sophisticated pop bands in this or any other area, as evidenced by their stylish new album “Sand + Silence” (Western Vinyl Records) – which is easy to imagine segued into Roxy Music’s classic “Avalon.” Produced by expatriate local Justin “Bon Iver” Vernon with contributions from like-minded spirits including Sylvan Esso’s Nick Sanborn, the album is an elegant set of 11 tracks steeped in new-wave atmospherics and luscious hooks. Hear it live Saturday at Carrboro’s Cat’s Cradle. Doors open at 8 p.m., Jesse Marchant opens at 9 and tickets are $15. See catscradle.com for details.
