One of the most buzzed-about movies out right now is “Inside Llewyn Davis,” the latest from the Coen Brothers, which has been getting reviews translating into “universal acclaim” according to the aggregator site Metacritic. Despite that, I fear I didn’t much care for it. The film traces a difficult week in the life of an early-’60s folksinger, showing his life and career bottoming out, and it certainly does have its moments. But overall, it left me cold. The review I wrote is here - although maybe you’d rather see it yourself first and come back, and then we’ll argue it out.
Also worth reading after you see it is this intriguing essay about what may or may not be going on with the cat in the movie. It’s the rare online piece in which the comments add to the debate and are worth reading.
