“I’m not a sucker, but I play one in real life, I got pockets full of magical beans,” Slaid Baird croons on the first song of Amigo’s new album, and it’s a perfect intersection of fairy-tale magical thinking and wiseacre existentialism as told by a clever band. The Charlotte trio isn’t doing anything revolutionary on “Might Could” ( amigotheband.com), but it’s in the strike zone for enthusiasts of working-class roots rock along the lines of the Bottle Rockets, with flourishes of classic pop and even doo-wop. Amigo plays it live Saturday at The Cave in Chapel Hill, on a bill with Magnolia Collective and The Affectionates. Showtime is 10 p.m. and cover is $5. See caverntavern.com for details.
