Christmas is a highly excessive time of year, with too much of just about everything. So there’s really nothing more thematically appropriate to the season than Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s hair-metal-Christmas grandiosity. TSO shows are kind of ridiculous but also a lot of fun, turning the old metal adage of everything louder than everything else into a Christmas tree and then blowing it up to the size of a skyscraper. Our annual visitation happens Wednesday at Raleigh’s PNC Arena with a show billed as “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve: The Best of TSO and More.”
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $45-$73.50 (plus taxes and fees). For details, see thepncarena.com.
