WGN debuts its second original series on Sunday. “Manhattan” tells the story behind the Manhattan Project, America’s mission to build the world’s first atomic bomb in Los Alamos, N.M., in the 1940s. It’s created by Sam Shaw (“Masters of Sex”), directed by Thomas Schlamme (“West Wing”) and stars John Benjamin Hickey (“The Big C”), so the pedigree is there. The 13-episode period drama begins at 9 p.m. Sunday and then moves to 10 in subsequent weeks.
