So many solid new series start in the coming week that it's hard to pick one to highlight. But I'm going with "Jane the Virgin," which starts Monday at 9 on the CW. The show stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane Villanueva, a bright 23-year-old living with her mother, who had her as a teenager, and her devoutly religious grandmother (she's the one who put the fear of God in Jane about remaining a virgin). Jane is smart and ambitious and in love with a great guy, but a routine visit to the gynecologist ends in an accidental insemination (with the sperm of her boss, no less) and we find ourselves in a full-blown - and utterly charming - telenovela. The show has a great cast, including Justin Baldoni, Brett Dier and Andrea Navedo, but Rodriquez provides the magic. Everyone I know who has seen the pilot loves this one.
