The Choking Game (8pm, Lifetime) - Lifetime’s “ripped from the headlines” movie is about a girl who seeks popularity at school by participating in choking games, not realizing she is putting her life in extreme dangers. (In my day, this would have been an After School Special.) Based on the book “Choke” by Diana Lopez and starring Freya Tingley and Peri Gilpin.

North America: Running Wild (8pm, Discovery) - This “Outlaws and Skeletons” episode looks at how animals adapt to survive in desert climates.

Cedar Cove (8pm, Hallmark) - In the second part of last week’s season opener, an impending adoption causes turmoil, so Jack and Olivia get involved in the situation.

Mega Shark Versus Mecha Shark (9pm, Syfy) - This movie – about what happens when the government unleashes a mechanical shark to combat a flesh-and-blood shark of epic proportions –is really just a warm-up for next week’s big event: “Sharknado 2: The Second One” (9pm, Wednesday).

Almost Royal (10pm, BBC America) - The faux royals visit Nashville, with Poppy seizing on the chance to launch a country-pop music career, and George making an embarrassing confession to Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke, “Dukes of Hazzard”).
