MasterChef (8pm, Fox) - In the two-hour Season 5 finale, the Top 3 contestants create dishes for a panel of judges from all 50 U.S. states. The winner earns an automatic place in the finale, while the other two face a pressure test involving desserts. Later, the final two compete for the trophy, a book deal and $250,000.
The Roosevelts : An Intimate History (8pm, UNC-TV) - In part two of Ken Burns’ 14-hour documentary series, Teddy becomes the 26th president of the United States six months into his term of vice president, when President McKinley is assassinated. Over the next seven years, Teddy fights corporate greed, builds the Panama Canal and preserves wilderness areas. Franklin, meanwhile, courts and weds Eleanor, the shy daughter of Teddy’s brother. Other installments air over the next five days, ending on Sept. 20.
Terror at the Mall (9pm, HBO) - A look at the Sept. 21, 2013, attack on the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya, by Somali militants that killed more than five dozen people. The report features video footage recorded by surveillance cameras during the siege, as well as interviews with survivors and rescuers.
Eyewitness War: Frontline Stories (9pm, National Geographic Channel) - A special report following military and law enforcement personnel as they face down hazardous situations associated with their professions on a daily basis.
