What to Watch on Friday: ‘Walking Dead’ marathon and fireworks

The Walking Dead (9am, AMC) - Starting this morning, AMC will begin a three-day marathon of all four seasons of “The Walking Dead,” culminating with a special episode of “The Talking Dead” on Sunday (9pm) that serves as a preview for Season 5. (Note: On Tuesday at 10pm, a documentary called “Inside the Walking Dead” gives a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show, including what goes into all the zombie makeup and special effects.

Fireworks! - There are several primetime Fourth of July specials on Friday. A sample: There’s a “ Philly 4th of July Jam” on VH1 at 8pm, headlined by the Roots and also featuring Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Hudson and Aloe Blacc. “ A Capitol Fourth” on UNC-TV has Tom Bergeron hosting performances by Frankie Valli, Patti LaBelle and the National Symphony Orchestra, among many others. That airs at 8pm and repeats at 9:30. “ Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular” (8pm with a repeat at 10) will have performances by Lionel Richie, Ariana Grande and Miranda Lambert. No official offerings from ABC or CBS, but WTVD will air “ The ’Works” at 9pm, a report from downtown Raleigh’s Fourth of July celebration (local pyrotechnics are scheduled for 9:30).
