DURHAM -- Police are looking for a man charged with shooting a 17-year-old in the 1100 block of Linwood Avenue earlier this month.
Bernard Millard Heggins Jr., 27, of Sybil Drive is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Police said he may be driving a gold-colored Chevrolet Cavalier with dark-tinted windows.
The shooting victim told police he was at a store on Linwood about 7 p.m. July 3 when two men got out of a gold car and confronted him. The two chased him across the street where a physical fight ensued and the teen was shot, according to a news release by Durham police.
Anyone with information about Heggins' whereabouts is asked to call Investigator B.S. Jones at 560-4582, ext. 240, or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases. Callers do not have to identify themselves.
