It's an exciting day for Triangle fashion aficionados and retail fans because I can report that the Streets at Southpoint in Durham will become home to the Triangle's first Anthropologie store next year.
The highly coveted retailer is a spinoff from Urban Outfitters, which opened its first Triangle store at the Streets at Southpoint two years ago.
Like Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie focuses on selling unique, trendy items, but with a focus on women's fashion.
The stores target women who are a little older than the typical Urban Outfitters shopper and who have more disposable income.
The stores are also unique, with each divided into smaller, almost mini stores, each with its own individual theme.
It appears the Anthropologie store will be taking over two adjacent spaces that used to house Sharper Image and Metropolitan Deluxe in the outdoor portion of the mall (near the Apple Store).
Construction should begin late this year with the opening date still to be determined.
I should also note that the retailer is advertising available jobs for a pending Greensboro store. Until now the only Anthropologie stores in the state have been in Charlotte.
In Raleigh, Progressive Music Center will move its music school from Oak Park Road to the strip center in front of Frankie's Fun Park off T.W. Alexander Drive in March. The school also sells instruments and will begin taking registration inside Frankie's this weekend.
Also in Raleigh, a handbag and jewelry business called Elegant Findings opened in the Shops of Baileywick at 9650 Strickland Road. If you are not familiar with the Shops of Baileywick, it's a center that is home to dozens of merchants, selling lots of unique items from furniture to home decor.
In Raleigh, The "Teach Me" Store has moved after 17 years in the North Ridge shopping center on Falls of Neuse Road to a much larger spot at 3520 Spring Forest Road, near the intersection with Capital Boulevard.
