McLamb named winner in District 4

After counting provisional ballots Tuesday, Johnston County election officials determined Glenn McLamb of Benson was the winner of a tight Democratic primary in the District 4 county commissioner race.

McLamb got 8,108 votes to Donald J. Byrd's 7,866 votes.

That 242-vote difference was slightly less than the 255-vote lead McLamb held over Byrd, a resident of Angier, as of election night when McLamb's preliminary total was 7,953 votes.

But it was enough to ensure McLamb will face-off with Republican incumbent DeVan Barbour in the fall general election. McLamb previously ran for the seat against Barbour in 2004.
