RALEIGH -- S. Quon Bridges, an assistant district attorney since 1991 for the 9th Judicial District, was named today to the District Court bench for the same region.Gov. Mike Easley named Bridges to fill the vacancy created by the death of Judge H. Weldon Lloyd in June. The district covers Franklin, Granville, Vance and Warren counties.Before joining the prosecutor's office, Bridges was an assistant public defender and worked in private practice. He is also an Oxford city commissioner.Bridges graduates from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, in 1975 and earned his law degree from North Carolina Central University's School of Law in 1981.Bridges' career "has taken him throughout the North Carolina court system," Easley said. "He is well prepared for this new responsibility as a District Court judge. I am certain that he will continue to serve the citizens of the 9th Judicial District with distinction."
