George Jhue Byrd 82, of 7755 N.C. Highway 62 S. went to be his Lord Friday August 29, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital following a period of declining health.
He was born in Caswell County July 24, 1932 to Linzy J. and Pearl Fitch Byrd. He attended Anderson High School and was a commercial truck driver for 35 years, five years for Kroger and 30 years for Signal Delivery Service. His hobbies were fishing, gardening and wood working. He was a big kidder and loved to tell a joke, He also was an avid NASCAR fan, member of Southern Ruritan club, and member of Oakview Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service will be Tuesday 1 P.M. September 2, 2014 at Harrelson Funeral Service Chapel conducted by Minister Bob Hillman. Interment will immediately follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.
Survivors are wife Betty Joyce Wilson Byrd of the home, one daughter, Elaine Byrd Bellow and friend Wilson (Buddy) Collier of Greensboro, one granddaughter Emily Faye Bellow of Charlotte, the apple of his eye.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Mary Elizabeth Payne, brother Walter Thomas Byrd and one son-in-law Larry K. Bellow.
The family will receive friends Monday 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
