Hal "Basie" Worth, Jr. 72, departed this life Sunday August 31, 2014.
Hal's father named him "Basie" after the famous jazz musician Count Basie.
Hal was born in Raleigh, at Saint Agnes Hospital. He was the son of the late Harold Worth and the grandson of the late Wilhelminia (Turner) McGuire. He was her heart. The family would like to pay a special tribute to our late aunt Sylvia (Worth) Raines who played an important role in Hal's upbringing.
Hal graduated from Ligon High School in 1963.
Never miss a local story.
He worked at Fields Department Store in New York City and with Eastern Airlines for many years.
