Anthony B. “Tony” Flewwellin, 61, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center, with his family by his side.
He was born in Wilmington, NC, on October 15, 1952, son of Lloyd Flewwellin and the late Eleanor Stark Flewwellin.
Tony retired from Carolina Power & Light with thirty-five years of service. In his spare time he enjoyed classic rock music and was a woodworker, building model cars and airplanes. He also collected and repaired antique radios, and loved going to the beach and enjoyed all types of sports. His favorite pastime was watching NASCAR on Sundays with his grandson Levi, with his favorite driver being #14, Tony Stewart. He was also a member of the Parkinson Association.
Surviving in addition to his father is his loving wife of sixteen years, Bobbi Longo Flewwellin; two children, Renee Flewwellin and Deanna Murray and husband Billy; his grandson, Levi Murray; siblings and their spouses, Linda Johnson (Red), David Flewwellin (Doris), Rick Flewwellin, Mike Flewwellin (Joan), Shawn Flewwellin, Mary Aciego (Robert), Chris Flewwellin (Edie), and Kelly Flewwellin; a sister-in-law, Lionette Flewwellin; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Paul Flewwellin (husband of Lionette) preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel with the Rev. Bob Kus officiating.
