Gene Perry Ayscue, 63, passed away on September 11, 2014 in Burnsville, NC. Gene was born in Oxford, NC. Following a career in advertising, he served as the site manager of the Bellamy Mansion Museum in Wilmington, NC. He cared deeply for historic preservation and the visual arts and was an accomplished painter and woodworker. Gene is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beverly Eubank Ayscue, and his daughter Ella Ayscue and husband, Gareth Tootell of Brooklyn, NY, and son, Christopher Ayscue of Portland, OR; father, Hoket V. Ayscue of Oxford, NC, and brother, Donald Ayscue and his wife Lu Ann of Boonesville, IN. Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Perry Fuller Ayscue.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, September 27 at Monumental Church, 1224 E. Broad St. in Richmond, Virginia. Parking is across the street at the Department of Transportation.
