Hazel Dell Miller, 86, of Arden passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Park Ridge Health.
A native of Wichita, KS, she was the daughter of the late William and Ellen Belton Shanklin. She was an alumnus of the University of Wichita, was employed by both the EPA and NIEHS. Mrs. Miller was a past member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, and was a former docent of the Asheville Art Museum, as well as a volunteer for both the WNC Child Advocacy Center and Isaac Dickson Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Bill Miller in 1979 and Harry McDaniel Sr. in 1990.
Surviving is her loving husband, Bill Lawrence Graye; son, Harry McDaniel Jr. and his wife, Gail Wallace, of Asheville; stepchildren, Tina Gubrud and her husband, Jeff, and Tami Stahowiak and her husband, Doug, and grandchildren, Tyler McDaniel and Kinana McDaniel.

A memorial gathering will be held on November 1, from 12 to 2 in the meeting room of Trinity View; 2533 Hendersonville Rd.; Arden, NC.
