Land near NC 73 preserved through partnership

Ten acres of rolling hills and fields on N.C.73 near the intersection of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Iredell counties are being saved from development thanks to a first-of-its-kind partnership in the state involving three local conservation groups: the Davidson Lands Conservancy, the LandTrust for Central North Carolina, and the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District. The land, in a rapidly growing part of Cabarrus, could eventually be transferred to another entity for use as a park, community garden or other conservation project, officials said.
