Dennise Moore Mayer, 73, of Raleigh, passed away on October 7, 2014. Dennise was born in Miami, Florida, and moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina where she lived for many years before moving to Raleigh 15 years ago.
Dennise was a true caregiver who always put others needs before her own, someone who nourished body and soul. She loved to cook for her family, and cherished the family dinners they had together. She was an extremely dedicated “Gaga” to all of her grandchildren whom she adored. Dennise was an avid football fan, and loved to play cards and square-dance. She always enjoyed the time she spent at the beach with her family and loved to look for and identify seashells.
Dennise is survived by her husband, Kenneth Charles “Casey” Mayer, Sr.; two daughters, Cristin Brand, and her husband, Howard, and Denise Wenzel, and her husband, Jason; step-son, Kenneth Mayer, Jr., and his wife, Beth; six grandchildren, Jack and Katie Brand, Marley and Yates Wenzel, and Margaret and Charles Mayer; and two sisters, Mary Gay Collier, and her husband, Dr. Albert Collier, and Patricia Latham. Dennise was preceded in death by her first husband, Ingram Moore, and her parents, Valery Dennis Wehler and Mary Alice Wehler.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Thursday, October 9, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC. A funeral will take place at 1pm, Friday, October 10, also at Mitchell Funeral Home.
