Kings Mountain Highway reopened late Wednesday after a teen and woman died when the car they were in collided with a truck.
The N.C. Department of Transportation said that eastbound Kings Mountain Highway was closed for three hours after the fatal wreck near Edgemont Road.
Authorities say the collision happened just before 6:30 Wednesday evening and involved a red Honda sedan and a truck.
According to officials, the Honda was making a U-turn when it was hit by the truck. Authorities think the sedan may not have seen the truck because of the glare from the setting sun.
The front seat passenger and a person sitting behind that person were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two people in the car were taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center. No charges had been filed late Wednesday.
