James Aubrey "Jim" Savage, Jr., 76, of Holly Springs died after a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born in Portsmouth VA and lived in the Raleigh area for over 40 years. He is survived by his dearly-loved wife Jackie, children Bret and Jennifer, bonus children Jon, Jae, and Jeff, sister Ellen, eight treasured grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Honey. Jim will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, his thoughtfulness, his humor and his love of life and family. Jim was a passionate golfer and avid fisherman. His dog Honey could often be seen riding shotgun in his golf cart. He supported his recreational pursuits as the Director of the Personnel Development Center and the Certified Public Management Program for the state of North Carolina. Jim earned a Bachelors degree from VMI (1960) and a Masters degree from UNC Chapel Hill. A memorial will be held at 5 PM on November 1 at Devil's Ridge Golf Club in Holly Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made in his name to the YMCA in appreciation of their excellent after school programs for children.
