Kim L. (Vandebrock) Rines, 57, of Cary, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, with her loving family by her side, after a 26 year battle with brain cancer. She was born in Fitchburg, MA on July 27, 1957, daughter of Jacob and Mae L. (Nutting) Vandebrock, and was a resident of Cary since 1990.
Mrs. Rines was a 1975 graduate of Fitchburg High School and was employed for many years in the banking industry, most recently for Bank of America in Raleigh, retiring in 2008. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. “Mama” loves you all so much! She enjoyed following Boston sports, particularly the Red Sox.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John P. Rines and her mother, Mae L. Vandebrock, both of Cary; three children, Allison L. Phillips and her husband Mason of Willow Spring, Erica L. Duchesne and her husband Lucas of Smithfield; and Timothy S. Rines and his wife Carolyn of Summerville, SC and; four precious grandchildren, Sean and Ethan Phillips and Olivia and Nora Duchesne. She is also survived by one brother, Bruce J. Vandebrock of Hyannis, MA and; two nieces, Amy Mueller of Centerville, MA and Andrea Bohmfalk of West Yarmouth, MA. Her father predeceased her on August 19, 2014.
The funeral procession for Mrs. Rines will leave from Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, to Sacred Heart Cathedral, 200 Hillsborough St., Raleigh for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at the church. Calling hours at the funeral home are from 5 to 8 p.m, Sunday.
Graveside services in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA will be held from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home & the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, MA, on Thursday, November 6, with calling hours beginning at 9 a.m in the funeral home.
