Maria Woodson was a 2nd grade teacher at Ravenscroft for 12 years before taking her expertise to Granville County Schools to be a K-5 curriculum coach.
On the morning of November 3, 2011, Maria left Stovall-Shaw Elementary after reading with a group of 2nd grade students. While on her way to another school Maria was killed by a drunk driver. In that moment, we lost a talented educator, a loving mother and a beautiful wife who was married just four months earlier.
Our family will never recover from the loss of her
smiling face and caring hearts in our lives.
During the upcoming holiday season, we ask that you remember to not only to never drink and drive, but the equally important advice: friends don't let friends drive while impaired. Please help keep drunk drivers off of our roads this holiday season so no family needlessly experiences this type of tragic loss.
