Angela (Angie) Deaton Townsend, of Cary, NC, was born on September 5, 1962 to Frances J. Deaton and Lewis c. Deaton in Fayetteville, NC. She attended local Fayetteville schools and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she met, and eventually married, the love of her life Joseph (Joe) L. Townsend. Together they created a family that includes Virginia Frances Townsend (18), a freshman at Elon University, and Johnson (Jack) Lanneau Townsend (14), a freshman at Green Hope High School.
She was a Public Relations professional, in the healthcare and natural gas sectors, for over 25 years including time at Beaufort (SC) Memorial Hospital, Providence Hospital of Columbia, SC and PSNC Energy in Raleigh, NC.
Angie’s church life began at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church of Fayetteville and she was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort, SC and Eastminster Presbyterian Church of Columbia, SC. At the time of her passing, she was an active member, and had been a long time Sunday School teacher, at White Memorial Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 25 years; daughter and son; father, Lewis C. Deaton and his wife Sharron, of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Cathy D. Kramer and her husband Al Kramer of Garner, NC, and Paige D. Rittberger and her husband Bob of Huntington, NY; her beloved Aunt Marguerite Masters of Linden, NC; nieces and nephews Catelyn and Ben Kramer, Jordan, Ryan, Aaron, Carsen and Cameryn Rittberger, Luke, Parker and Peyton Townsend; and many other cousins, second cousins and countless beloved friends and co-workers.

The service to celebrate Angie’s life will be held at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon, November 7, 2014 at White Memorial Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked, if so moved, donations be made to the UNC LIneburger Comprehensive Cancer Center or to UNC Children’s Hospital.
