The city of Charlotte has hired a new economic development director to oversee its business recruitment efforts.
Bill Cronin, who will start Dec. 1, is the executive director of the American Red Cross’ Central South Carolina chapter.
He had previously worked as vice president for Invest Atlanta, the city of Atlanta’s development authority.
“Having been a competitor to Charlotte in my previous roles, I understand the city’s strengths and challenges.

“I love Charlotte,” said Cronin, in a statement. “I am very excited about working with the business community.”
Cronin replaces Bill Richardson, who left the city for the private sector over the summer. Steve Harrison
