Herbert Joel (“Joe”) Pippin, 76, passed away at his home on Monday, November 17, 2014 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at Wendell Baptist Church on Thursday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will occur from 12:30-1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Entombment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
Joe was born on November 27, 1937 in the community of Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakelon High School and Atlantic Christian College. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the Wendell Masonic Lodge 565. He and his wife, Ann, are long time members of Wendell Baptist Church where he served as an ordained Deacon. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time at the beach with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Raybon Pippin; son, Joey and his wife, Jennifer Culler Pippin; son, Les and his wife, Donna Craven Pippin; grandchildren, Thomas, Sarah, Grace, Hannah, and Lilly; Brother, Fred Pippin and sister-in-law, Katherine; aunt, Hilda Gothson and husband, Bob Gothson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Lucille Winstead Pippin; brothers, Allan and Billy.
