Richard Eugene Warren, Sr., 69, died November 26, 2014, at Wake Medical Center. Richard was born on August 8, 1945 in Peoria County, IL, to Clyde Elbert and Wilma Mohr Warren. Richard was a Sea Going Marine serving aboard the USS Intrepid during the time of the astronaut recovery. He served as a personal attache' to Gus Grissom, Neil Armstrong and John White. Richard enjoyed collegiate sports and was an avid UNC Tarheel Fan! He shared that love of sports with his children and grandchildren. Richard attended Fuquay-Varina Presbyterian Church where he was involved in many different groups.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a half brother.
Surviving are his wife, Amy Cooke Warren; a son, Richard E. Warren Jr.; a stepson, Timothy A. Cox; two grandchildren, Jordan Scott Warren and Tiffany Cox; a great grandson, Monte Cox; two sisters, Sheris Kincaid (Malcolm) and Joan Schurtz; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow at Main Street United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 12:30, on Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
