Jim Stamey passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Cary High School and he attended Johnston Community College. He worked with the State Forestry Service and as a partner in Hobbs and Associates Surveyors. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, marksman, hunter and fisherman all his life. He was a proud member, tournament winner and past president of the Capital Bass Masters Club. Jim is predeceased by his late father James H. Stamey and his sister Dianna Stamey Fulmer. He is survived by his mother Peggy Stamey of Raleigh, sister Susan Stamey Steinhoff and family of Roswell, GA, sister Melissa Stamey Lennon and family of Fuquay Varina, NC, his beloved Angel Reese and family of Fuquay Varina, NC, as well as his best buddy, his chocolate lab Echo, and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jim will be truly missed by everyone who loved him.
A memorial service with the laying of the wreath on the water will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Lake Wheeler Conference Room next to the boat launch. A catered barbecue lunch will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the NC Cancer Society, Wake County Transitions, or to a charity of your choice.
