Nicholas “Nick B” VanLoren Burroughs, husband, son and friend died unexpectedly on December 1, 2014 at the age of 25. Nicholas lived a full and victorious life characterized by devotion to his family, loyalty to his friends and his firm belief in God. Nicholas was born to Terrence and Terri Burroughs in Raleigh, NC on January 27, 1989. He was raised in a Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age, and was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Raleigh. Nicholas graduated from Hampton University in Hampton Virginia on May 8, 2011 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in leadership studies.
Nicholas was blessed with a loving family. He married the joy and love of his life, Katrice Michelle Pipkins, on August 31, 2014 in Kiawah Island, SC. From the very beginning, this young couple dedicated their marriage to God giving Him His rightful place in their personal and married lives. Nicholas was heavily involved in the modeling and performing arts industry and worked as a comedian and in commercials and movies throughout the area. He was dedicated to his craft and also taught acting classes at a local talent agency. In addition, Nicholas was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Most of all, Nicholas was funny, kind, intuitive and softspoken, always able to see the best in situations and in people. Nicholas is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Creator.
Nicholas is survived by his wife, Katrice; his parents; his beloved sister Madeline; and his paternal grandparents, Dr. & Mrs. Frederick Burroughs, all of Raleigh, NC; his maternal grandfather William C. Brown of Zanesville, Ohio; maternal grandmother Delores F. Brown of Wilmington, N.C.; two aunts and one uncle Angela and Kelvin Burroughs of Raleigh, and Cara Brown (Charles Hagan) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a whole host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A family visitation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on December 5, 2014; followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church on Edenton Street. Reverend G.L.
